Product Spotlight | The Bradshaw

I always have the goal of designing pieces that are equal parts functional and pretty. The Bradshaw Coffee Table is no exception.

This table was actually inspired by a custom order Timber & Tulip design that we did back in 2019. As part of that project, I was completely taken with how beautiful the polished brass played off the walnut, and I knew that I wanted to introduce the combination of these two materials in some form as part of the new collection.

This piece represents what I believe to be the perfect balance of natural texture and modern elegance. A beautiful showcase of the wood itself - accentuated gracefully with the seamless double waterfall. Plus a touch of fancy because who doesn’t need a little polished brass glam in their lives, am I right?!

Local

Interested in how this lovely actually comes to life? First off, every.single.table is handcrafted right here in Minnesota - locally made through and through! Interested in a little more behind the curtains action, here are the highlights:

  • Board selection - picking the right wood is key in this process. We use only grade A lumber for these tables so that we are using boards with maximum heartwood (darker wood), minimal sapwood (lighter wood) and minimal knots. As much as I normally appreciate the variation in boards, with these designs, it quickly becomes too busy and distracts from the overall look unless the grain is largely uninterrupted.

  • Panel Glue-up & Milling - the boards selected are then glued up into one long panel and milled down to size.

  • Router Brass Strip & Miter - the center strip is routered out for the width and thickness of the brass and then both wood & brass are miter cut to create the two waterfalls.

  • Final Sand & Finish Applied- wood is sanded to 220 grit and final finish applied. We use a different finish depending on the type of wood that we are finishing. For our walnut, we use an ML Campbell Post-Catalyzed Spray Lacquer, which really brings out the richness of the walnut. For the rift white oak, we use an ILVA Waterborne 2K Urethane for that nice, cool oak finish. Both are made for maximum durability - no water rings on out tables!

  • Brass placement & Ready, Set, Go! - the brass is placed flush with the wood, adhered & Voila! The Bradshaw is ready for action!

As you can hopefully surmise from the above, there is a lot of thought and effort that goes into this piece (and all of our pieces for that matter). And for that reason, it is even more exciting to see this design dance into some beautiful homes and really shine! One of my favorites to date has been the Bradshaw Coffee Table (in white oak) that we built for local radio personality Falen @falenkdwb. It fits her space to a tee, and it is a beautiful space indeed! I designed this table to be a statement piece, sure, however, it is also designed to be a piece of furniture that can seamlessly blend into a beautiful room such as this one; so to see it cozy in and compliment its beautiful surroundings makes me very happy indeed.

Thanks so much for inviting Timber & Tulip into your home, Falen! It was a dream-come-true to bring The Bradshaw to you!

"I love my Bradshaw Coffee Table! It's unique and simply stunning. The gold accent makes it a conversation piece. I've already had so many people ask me where it's from. It's the perfect piece for our home" - Falen @falenkdwb
